3/15/2024 0 Comments Optimus prime voice clips![]() ![]() Skybolt is a custom voice for my main fancharacter. Dan Gilvezan has also reprised the role for convention promos and the Devastation video game, and his voice hasn't really aged all that much. There's actually quite a bit since he survived the entirety of G1, retaining the same voice after his Goldbug upgrade. It works though, as Magnus is just Robert's normal speaking voice.īumblebee is the newest model, and I haven't even gathered up every bit of data I possibly could for him. ![]() Ultra Magnus is technically just a Robert Stack model because most of the data for it came from other Robert Stack performances, such as Unsolved Mysteries narrations. He's further hurt by the fact that he was killed in the 1986 movie. He's an action-oriented character, unlike Perceptor, so the difficulty of getting clean audio from heavy action sequences applies here. Uberduck's custom vocoder makes him sound a bit too monotone. Ironhide is probably the weakest, and I'm trying to improve him right now without much luck. This same game audio was also used for Prime and Megatron's datasets. There's also the Wii U game, from which a YouTuber has ripped raw voice audio. Transformers Prime doesn't use the heavy filtering of shows like G1 for the Transformers' voices, instead opting for a light reverb effect. Knockout probably needs to be retrained with more data, but it was pretty easy to get clean audio for him. Action scenes are especially hard to get clean audio from because there's a lot of noise that the extraction algorithms need to cut out. Despite this, he actually works rather well, which I chalk up to his status as a less action-oriented character and his massive vocabulary. Perceptor, on the other hand, relied completely on the G1 cartoon for audio. In fact, most of the audio comes from newer sources, such as video games and Transformers Prime. I didn't have to rely solely on the G1 cartoon for either one. Optimus and Megatron were the easiest to gather data for, as they're essentially "evergreen" models that can represent any incarnation of the characters played by Peter Cullen and Frank Welker respectively. Their unique filters probably place their voices at the "impossible" end of the spectrum. Do not ask for the Insecticons or Wreck-Gar. Other times, it's likely to be nearly impossible. Sometimes, these filters can be worked through if the speech is still relatively clear. Metallic filters also make things difficult for the system, and many Transformers series use them. This is especially true for older media like Generation 1 or even Beast Wars. Getting clean, clear audio isn't always easy, or even possible. You need at least 5 total minutes of the clean, clear audio, broken down into clips ranging from 3 to 15 seconds, to create a workable model. ![]() It also has to be clear enough for the system to understand it. The audio has to be as free from background music and noise as possible. This tech still has limitations that make it difficult to create these voices. There are others I'd like to do sometime in the future (or when this technology improves). I'm currently datamining for Beast Wars Megatron and trying to improve Ironhide.
